She was the first woman to run a marathon with dorsal (a test that was just for male athletes) in the Boston marathon of 1967.
In the race, one of the organizers, who was co-director of the race, detected that Kathrine Switzer was a woman, so he tried to stop her, and shouted: "Get out of here. my race and give me back the number! " But thanks to her boyfriend and some runners, she could finish the race without any dangers.Switzer won the 1974 New York Marathon and finished second in the 1975 Boston Marathon.
